Bellevue Magic Season dazzled, thanks to BDA members, community partners

The 21st annual Bellevue Magic Season Ice Arena presented by Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® card closed for the season Monday, January 15 at Bellevue Downtown Park.

Guests were thrilled with the larger rink surface and new rental skates. The new parking layout at the renovated Downtown Park, improved entry platform via the new plaza, along with the new Inspiration Playground, provided attendees an improved experience this season. The on-site staff continued to do a fabulous job to ensure quality customer service for our skating guests.

The Bellevue Downtown Association looks forward to the 2018-2019 season with plans to improve the warming hut/concessions area.

Special thanks again to Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® card and supporting sponsors Bank of America, PACCAR Inc, Overlake Medical Center, Sound Transit, Meydenbauer Center, and City of Bellevue.

Snowflake Lane, produced and presented by The Bellevue Collection and the Kemper Freeman family, celebrated its 13th year in grand style. With records numbers viewing the holiday spectacle of live toy soldier drummers, exhilarating music, animated snow characters, glittering lights all surrounded by snow falling every night along Bellevue Way – it continues to be one of the most unique community holiday celebrations in the country.

Garden d’Lights sparkled once again with over a half million lights turning the grounds into a blossoming winter wonderland from November 25th to December 31st. This year they added many nights of musical performances in both their outdoor gathering place and indoor Education Center. Kudos to the Bellevue Botanical Garden Society and Bellevue Parks & Community Services for another great event.

Meydenbauer Center Theatre had an impressive presentation of holiday shows again this holiday season. The numbers were strong with multiple performances from four different organizations and over 8,000 in attendance. Truly a wonderful Magic Season for the Theatre!

KidsQuest Children’s Museum’s Family Gingerbread House Workshops hosted 2,200 guests and over 100 volunteers at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue over Friday & Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend – it is becoming so popular they are exploring a relocation to a larger ballroom at the Hyatt!

  • 5 different kinds of candy cereal, and cookies used in decorating gingerbread houses.
  • 1,128 pounds of candy was purchased.
